Good oral hygiene is extremely important, especially when it comes to orthodontic treatment. Dr. Shin wants you to know how important your oral health truly is. If you do not receive the care that you need, then you will suffer from some serious conditions. One of the main things you need to pay attention to is when you receive orthodontic treatment, you need to care for your teeth. If you do not, you will find that permanent white spots form and these are caused because of the decalcification of the enamel or decay to the tooth. These stains ARE PERMANENT. They cannot be removed either, so Dr. Shin cannot stress the importance of proper tooth care enough.

It is vital that you brush and floss your teeth all of the time when you have braces. You do not want to avoid brushing or flossing because this can lead to serious complications. Your teeth and gums are healthy when you receive orthodontic treatment, but if you do not take care of your teeth, you can suffer from decay and gum disease. If you do develop gum disease or decay, you will need to come into our office more often to have a checkup.

Adults who have had gum disease before may need to see a periodontist before they receive orthodontic care. Your gums and teeth need to be healthy for orthodontic treatment to work.

It is VITAL that you have your regular checkups performed during your orthodontic treatment. You will usually need to come in every six months, but it may be less than that depending on your oral hygiene.

Dr. Shin is here to help you and will monitor your overall oral health and check for new cavity formation and signs of gum disease when you schedule your exam and cleaning in our Denver office. During your appointment, we will use professional, high-quality dental tools to help us see your teeth and provide you with the care you need.

One of the things that needs to be discuss further is that it is important for you to care for your teeth. C. S. Family Dental expects you to choose the best options for your dental health, but not neglect your dental health. If you receive three or more unacceptable evaluations, you may be referred for additional care or you may no longer be a candidate for orthodontic treatment and services will cease.

We want to provide you with the healthiest and best smile possible and we need you to be a part of that as well. We will help you reach your goals! Call C. S. Family Dental today to schedule an appointment with Dr. Shin in our Denver office.
